据气象部门预测，受今年第19号台风“紫檀”、第20号台风“简拉维”的共同影响，8月22日至25日，广西南部部分地区有大到暴雨，其中广西西南部局地大暴雨至特大暴雨。经与自然资源部联合会商研判，广西南部部分地区发生地质灾害的风险高。根据《国家突发地质灾害应急预案》及有关规定，应急管理部于8月22日针对广西启动国家地质灾害四级应急响应。
